Preparation
GET BAKING! Here’s your check list, Grab an apron, tie long hair back, then wash your hands. Make sure you have the help of an adult, now let’s start your baking fun! Please read the safety message on the back of pack before you begin. Step 1 - MAKE THE CUPCAKES 1. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/ 160°C fan/ gas mark 4. Take care when using the oven. ASK A GROWN-UP FOR HELP 2. Put the cupcake cases into a cupcake tray. 3. Mix together in a bowl the baking mix, soft butter or margarine, milk and the egg. Then whisk (by hand or using an electric mixer) for 2-3 minutes or until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Take care using the electric mixer. ASK A GROWN-UP FOR HELP 4. Spoon the mixture evenly into the 12 cupcake cases. 5. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes or until the cupcakes are a light golden colour. Take care when using the oven. ASK A GROWN-UP FOR HELP 6. Remove from the oven, be careful they are hot and allow them to cool completely before decorating. ASK A GROWN-UP FOR HELP FOR THE BUTTERCREAM ICING 1. Beat the butter until soft by hand or using an electric mixer, then gradually add the buttercream mix and beat until the buttercream is light and fluffy. Take care using the electric mixer. ASK A GROWN-UP FOR HELP 2. Add small amounts of milk if a smoother lighter buttercream is preferred. Spread the buttercream evenly over the 12 cupcakes. Step 2 - MAKE THE SLIME 1. Add slime mix and 225ml water into a microwaveable bowl and stir well, for best results use a spatula. 2. Microwave at 900W for 1 minute on full power and stir well. Then microwave for a futher 1 minute and stir again. Take care when using the microwave. ASK A GROWN-UP FOR HELP 3. Continue to microwave the mixture in 15 second bursts stirring inbetween each burst until the slime has thickened. This might only be two 15 second bursts but this could be a few more depending on your microwave. ASK A GROWN-UP FOR HELP 4. Be careful the slime will be hot. Allow the slime to cool for approximately 15 minutes before you use it. To help the slime cool down so that it won’t melt your buttercream and is safe to touch, stir every few minutes. Take care whilst stirring your slime as it cools. ASK A GROWN-UP FOR HELP 5. Now get creative and decorate your cupcakes: spoon, stretch or spread your slime on top of your buttercream.
